Data & Editorial Methodology

Chronoscout exists to make a fragmented market easier to understand. This page explains what the platform observes, what its signals mean and where the limits are.

Evidence Types

Observed means directly detected from a monitored source or recorded action. Derived means calculated from recorded observations using a documented rule. Modeled means an estimate or prediction based on observed and derived inputs. Evidence type describes how a result was produced; it does not by itself describe confidence or entity scope.

Coverage

The catalog covers active microbrand and independent-watch references that Chronoscout has identified and can monitor reliably. It is broad, but it is not a claim to contain every brand or every watch in existence. Public catalog totals are generated from active records and consistently rounded down: brands to the nearest 10 and watches to the nearest 100.

Availability and Price Monitoring

Chronoscout checks covered official brand and retailer pages automatically. Check frequency varies by source and technical availability. A status or price is an observation from the latest successful check, not a guarantee of current inventory or a purchase offer. Product pages show timestamps wherever that context matters.

Sources can change, block automated access or publish incomplete information. Suspected errors can be reported from the relevant page or by emailing info@chronoscout.co.

Releases and Market Signals

Release history, restocks, sell-outs and price changes are derived from recorded observations. Trending, scarcity and demand indicators combine those observations with activity on Chronoscout. They are directional signals, not valuations or investment advice. When the available sample is limited, the result should be treated with correspondingly lower confidence.

Current availability is the latest successful source observation, not a guarantee of inventory. Long wait ended is shown when an observed non-buyable state lasting at least 30 days changes to a buyable state; observation cadence bounds the exact transition time. New releases use recorded release dates for active catalog references and can vary by regional launch.

Hot right now compares organic watch-detail attention in the latest complete seven-day window with the immediately preceding seven-day window. Both windows must be complete and meet a minimum activity requirement. Tagged paid placements and direct recommendation traffic are excluded. Rising attention does not mean purchases, sales or wider-market demand. Most tracked ranks eligible active references by current active Chronoscout tracking interest, independently of buy state. Raw tracker counts are not published, and the ranking is not a measure of reservations or sales. Collector-interest direction compares recorded Chronoscout tracking interest across two periods and is shown only after the minimum observation and sample requirements are met. Demand trend is a derived, multi-period direction signal. Restock prediction is modeled from completed restock cycles. Sell-out speed is derived from observed available-to-sold-out transitions. Scarcity score is a modeled composite, not an inventory count. Its available inputs are time unavailable, observed sell-out speed, observed restock frequency and qualified Chronoscout collector-interest context. Relative scarcity uses a nightly cohort of active references sharing the same primary style, case-diameter band and manufacturer-price band. Both currently available and unavailable active references are included; retired and discontinued references are excluded. Cohort ranks are approximate decile bands rather than exact positions. Brand restock reliability is derived from completed restock intervals across distinct references.

Reviews and Editorial Content

Community reviews belong to their authors. Editorial articles and reports are selected and written independently. Factual corrections are welcome and do not depend on whether a brand has a commercial relationship with Chronoscout.

Paid Placements

Chronoscout is founder-owned and has no outside investors. Clearly labelled placements help fund the platform but never change organic rankings, market data, reviews or editorial conclusions. Payment cannot buy a better organic search position, alter availability history or scores, influence recommendations, or remove accurate unfavorable data.
