Weekly Digest

The Chronoscout Digest: August 31 - September 6

Baltic gave the Aquascaphe GMT the MK-II treatment this week and it's the rare update that gets better while getting cheaper. The old Soprod C125 is out, replaced by the Miyota 9075. That turns this from a desk GMT into a true traveller's GMT: the local hour hand now jumps independently, so you land, set local time and your home zone stays put. The case got reworked too, now with crown guards, vertical brushing on the lugs and 200m water resistance, double the old model.

Zelos brought the Helmsman back in stainless steel with five new dials. Worth knowing the history here: the Helmsman was Zelos's very first design, a Kickstarter dress diver meant to stand apart from the pile of microbrand tool divers, and it got a titanium 10th anniversary run last year. Steel makes it accessible again. Garnet uses a crushed stone dial with all the variation that implies, Aventurine pairs starry glass with a crystallised titanium bezel, Carbon and Teal MOP both get CNC guilloche and Sky Blue is fully lumed.
