The Chronoscout Digest: September 7 - 13

Balticus dropped new colorways of the Grey Seal Chronograph this week and it's their oldest and most reworked design. First launched years ago, it's since gone through three editions as the brand has kept refining it. The current chronograph runs on a genuine Swiss ETA Valjoux 7750, a proper mechanical chronograph movement rather than the meca-quartz you see at this price elsewhere, with 48 hours of power reserve. 44mm compressor-style case, sapphire front and back, the caseback centred on an image of a seal so you can watch the movement work around it. Comes as a set with both a Milanese bracelet and a leather strap.

Maystone launched the Skybreaker Chronograph on Kickstarter with four birds of prey: Peregrine Falcon, Steppe Eagle, Blue Eagle and Honey Buzzard. It's the British brand's second collection after the Prosperity GMT, and Maystone picked up a bronze medal in the Horologius Q1 2026 microbrand report for quiet momentum.
